Thirty-five-year-old Danut Ovidiu Brustur has been working as a Lead Technician for De Gilde Groep for the past few months. Four years ago, he moved to the Netherlands from the Transylvania region in northwestern Romania. “Even so, I think the Netherlands is a wonderful country. People here are open and friendly.”
Through De Gilde Groep, Danut works on challenging technical projects within the industrial sector. For example, he was involved in a major shutdown project during which an entire production line was replaced. In this respect, Danut greatly appreciates the organized nature of the Netherlands. “You notice it especially at work. Projects are well prepared, instructions are clear, and people know what is expected of them. That makes it a pleasant place to work.”
Passion for technology
It was almost written in the stars that Danut would become an electrician. “My father was an electrician too. He is retired now, but I think I inherited my passion for the profession from him. I enjoy creating something and turning ideas into reality. You come up with an idea, carry it out, and eventually see everything working exactly as intended. That makes me happy.”
And enjoying your work may be the most important thing of all. According to Danut, De Gilde Groep plays a major role in that. “Communication is clear, and if you need something, you get a quick response. What is agreed upon is actually delivered. That creates trust.” But that is not all. “They genuinely take the time for you, and you are treated with respect. That makes you feel welcome and allows you to enjoy your work.”

Safety comes first
In Hoogezand, he works as a Lead Technician. “My job consists of a wide range of electrical tasks: pulling cables, connecting wiring, inspecting installations, and ensuring that everything functions properly. I also work indoors. That means no rain, no strong winds, and a clean working environment. That certainly makes a difference,” Danut laughs.
That clean working environment is no coincidence, because working safely is extremely important to the enthusiastic fisherman. “Safety should always be the top priority. Rules exist for a reason and must be followed,” he believes. “For example, when I open a control cabinet or junction box, I always first check whether any voltage is still present. Only when I am certain it is safe do I begin working.”

According to Danut, communication plays a crucial role in this. “Good communication is perhaps the foundation of safe working. If you see something, you should report it. By doing so, you protect not only yourself but also your colleagues. That applies everywhere. Good communication makes work safer, more efficient, and more enjoyable. But quality is just as important. If you make something, you have to do it properly. Otherwise, there is no point.”

High-quality accommodation
He sees that same focus on safety and quality not only at work, but also in the accommodation arranged by De Gilde Groep. “I have lived in several locations throughout the Netherlands, but I am very satisfied with this accommodation. The house is clean, tidy, and equipped with all the necessary amenities. It is a place where you can truly relax after a day’s work. And that is important, because if you can rest properly, you sleep better, eat better, and go to work the next day with more energy.” In addition, he lives only a twenty-minute drive from his workplace.
All in all, Danut is a happy man. “I feel comfortable here. When you work in an environment where you feel welcome, where people treat each other with respect, and where things are well organized, it makes a huge difference. It allows you to go to work with enjoyment and bring out the best in yourself every day.”
