What will you do?

The Ship Metalworker works within the Section Construction Department, where complex ship sections—up to 12 meters long and 80 tons in weight—are assembled from supplied kits. These sections require high accuracy, clean workmanship, and the ability to read technical documentation independently.

Section Characteristics

  • Work with relatively thin material (8–10 mm)
  • High precision: tolerance +2 mm / –4 mm
  • Maximum deviation over 6 meters: –3 mm
  • Tack welding in all positions using Covered Electrode
  • Independent work based on drawings and part lists
  • Operating cranes safely and responsibly

Preparation Duties

  • Reading and interpreting drawings and part lists
  • Identifying, checking, and preparing components from supplied kits
  • Maintaining a clean and safe workspace
  • Operating a crane for transport and positioning of materials
  • Verbal communication in English

What do we expect from you?

High-quality workmanship: clean, precise, and accurate
Ability to work independently or in pairs
Ability to tack weld in all positions using Covered Electrode – for vertical positions: weld downward, not in stacking method
Experience with oxy-fuel cutting (especially thin materials)
Ability to grind and finish materials
Experience using a theodolite and spirit level
